It's unlike anything I've ever, ever read from Danielle Steele. Hilarious and very risque, once you're done with this book, your raised eyebrow will be frozen in place.
Apr 21, Charmaine Saliba rated it liked it. I really enjoyed The Klone and I. It is an unusual novel, as the title suggests it is about a clone. It has a touch of a fantasy in it, nevertheless it is a touching story. It is a fast pace novel and I had laughed so hard that hurts.
She was devastating and was trying to be strong for her children. Then one day she left for Paris and meet a mysterious man Peter. He told her that he will call her when I really enjoyed The Klone and I. He told her that he will call her when he will be back in the States, not believing him she went with her life. While she was on holiday with her children he called her and she felt in love with him. But something is not quite right with Peter. In fact, Peter seems moody and act strangely. Is he real or just a fantasy.
I was talking to Jay and our conversation drifted to romance novels. I made a comment and Jay asked if I had ever actually read a romance novel. I said I thought I had, but it must have been a period romance novel I haven't remembered which one yet, so it's not on my bookshelf. Danielle Steel seemed an obvious choice. I chose one that didn't seem too think and borrowed it without really considering what it was about.
My assumptions about romance novels were more than affirmed by my experience reading "The Klone and I", and yes, I did read it all. I found it cheesy, boring, not romantically thrilling and generally dumb. If anyone has a romance novel that they think will change my mind about romance novels, please let me know. I will give it a read. View all 3 comments. Aug 20, Tammy rated it liked it Shelves: This book was intertaining at times. In spots it made me laugh out loud.. The outlandish clothes that the klone would wear would really make your imagination work to picture what he would look like.
For instance one outfit was a flourescent green pair of tight fitting pants with a black netting see through T-Shirt. Another was a hot pink spandex jumpsuit with a matching G - String Can't imagine a guy wearing this stuff other than for Halloween Also his sexual games were pretty funny as well.. Like doing a triple flip while in the middle of sex. Don't know how that is possible. The way it is written it made me laugh out loud Jan 08, Cheryl Davis rated it did not like it.

I read through them quickly, and laughed out loud a few times. It felt like a close BFF sharing the pain of the break up of her marriage and the pitfalls of dating while laughing in the face of adversity. Then the main character, Stephanie, meets a respectable man named Peter Baker in romantic Paris and everything falls into place.
From there, the believability flounders to the point where the reader begins to laugh at the author instead of with her. As a writer, I might read parts of the first pages again because they represent a good example of first person point of view. For more, see It's a Mystery blog.
Feb 19, Stefaia rated it it was ok. I read this way back in high school when all the required reading was dull and just a general pain in the side. I picked this up from the school library because why not, just to finally read something different and fun.

Back then, given that I was a teen and didn't have any experience with this type of novel I was vaguely impressed and thought it was funny. There were parts I thought were very confusing, especially during the "erotic" scenes. Also, the whole book is basically spoiled from the ge I read this way back in high school when all the required reading was dull and just a general pain in the side. Also, the whole book is basically spoiled from the get go. All you have to do is read the title and this is important tome because, again, this book confused me but I kept going back to the title thinking 'right, stay on track, this is about a clone But now looking back I realize this book was a train wreck and the only redeeming quality was the first part of the book where we go over the main character's family life and how she got dumped There were certain passages that spoke to me in that section and while I couldn't quote them now I still remember how the made me feel.
After that I consider it to be a cringe fest and I seriously cannot tell if this is meant to be taken seriously or if it's just one big running joke that I didn't catch on. Jul 20, Anne Keller rated it liked it. This was not your typical Steele novel.
It's actually kind of bizarre. You have a woman that is devastated when her husband leaves her. A year later she goes to Paris to pick her kids up from their summer vacation with their dad and his new wife. While waiting for the kids to arrive she meets a very handsome man. Turns out their rooms are next to each other in the hotel.
They spend a day together and once everyone is back in America, he visits her in the Hamptons. They end up in a relationship. When he takes a business trip to San Francisco for 2 weeks, he sends a surprise to her - the Klone. He works in bionics and made the clone in his likeness but completely opposite at the same time. When she is with the Klone, she loves him. When her real man is back, she loves him. It goes back and forth through her relationship with both men.

In the end, true to Steele style, true loves wins. But it definitely comes with bumps, flips and bruises along the way. I couldn't finish this book. I don't know what it was about the way this book was written, but it made me crazy.
